CHILD AND ADOLESCENT COUNSELING AND THERAPY
If you are a parent who is concerned about your child or teenager, therapy with a psychologist can be an effective means to improve their mood or behavior. I have been providing therapy for children and teens for over twenty years, and would welcome the opportunity to consult with you about your child. Some of the problems and issues for which I regularly provide treatment include:
- Anxiety and unrealistic worry,
- Fear regarding attending school,
- Sadness and depression,
- Behavior difficulties at home or school,
- ADHD and other attention problems,
- Adjustment to divorce or parent separation,
- Recovery from a trauma or stressful life event,
- Concerns about possible child maltreatment,
- Adjustment following adoption.
Parents have an important role in the therapy process. I will regularly consult with you about your child’s progress. Additionally, I will work with you to develop a plan to help you to assist your child overcome difficulties. If social workers, school counselors, or physicians are also seeing your child, with your permission I will consult with them so that all professionals are working toward the same goal.
In my practice, I also conduct psychological assessments of children and adolescents who are demonstrating behavioral and emotional difficulties. I have a substantial level of expertise in the evaluation of children when there are concerns of possible sexual abuse or other maltreatment.
To accommodate work and school schedules, I have Saturday morning appointments available.
